Back to School & Season Championship Night - August 4th

by Lafayette County Promotions LLC on 07/24/17

Even though we aren’t racing this Friday because of all the rain, we are in full race mode with a lot happening next Friday, August 4th. It’s season championship and Back to School night. Please help us thank our great race night sponsor, McNett Electric. Chip and his crew are big supporters of dirt track racing, are a local business that enjoys giving back, and are even responsible for the light bulbs on the track lights each year! Make sure to thank McNett Electric!

As part of Back to School night, we always do the backpack giveaways for the kids. Because of some great sponsors like the Schliem Race team and their sponsors Obert Construction & CDC Builders, we have more than 100 backpacks full of school supplies already lined up to giveaway. After talking with some foster parents and teachers, we thought of some other ways to give back, in case we get to the point that there are more backpacks than kids at the races (that’s an awesome problem to have). Sponsors now have the option to donate a clothing bag or a food bag as well. We’ll take these to local schools in the area that can give them to children in need or use them for their after school programs or snack times. As usual, we’ll take care of purchasing everything, bagging it up, sticking a note in with the sponsor’s name and address, taking it to the track and managing the drawing for the giveaways.

Here are the donation options for Back to School night:

  1. Backpack full of school supplies. This includes a backpack, notebook, folder, crayons or markers, glue stick, ruler, pen or pencils, etc.
  2. Clothing bag. This includes socks, shoes, pants, shirt and underwear.
  3. Food bag. This includes fruit snacks, gold fish, cereal, oatmeal, breakfast bars, juice boxes and a pack of napkins or silverware, and more.
  4. Checkered flags. Since it’s also season championship we will also be doing a meet and greet on the front stretch again. We want to get each child a flag to have signed.

Each backpack or bag costs $20 and the flags are $1 per flag. Because this takes a lot to go get, stick notes in and organize, we are asking everyone to let us know no later than 10:00 am Tuesday, August 1st fi they’d like to sponsor a giveaway item. If anyone is interested in donating, private message us on our Facebook page or call or text Kari at (608) 482-0246. Let’s make this last night of racing one to remember for the kids and adults too!

Races Canceled for Friday, July 28th Due to Flooding

by Lafayette County Promotions LLC on 07/24/17

We wanted to let everyone know we are canceling the races for this Friday, July 28th due to the mighty Pecatonica river flooding the race track. It’s not draining as fast as we had hoped. Thanks to all that offered to help though. If we can't get on the grounds, let alone on the track, we just can't race.

We will be back racing Friday, August 4 with Back to School night. Watch for more exciting details on that in the next few days.

We do apologize; Mother Nature just doesn’t seem to be a race fan this year!
